CAB is a 501c3 non-profit organization working in partnership with all friends of bicycling to promote bicycling in Conway and in surrounding communities in Faulkner County. The mission of CAB is to:

  • Encourage the development and use of facilities (bike paths, routes, lanes and trails) for bicycling;
  • Provide educational information for both bicyclists and motorist, and to defend the rights of bicyclists;
  • Provide bicycle safety training;
  • Sponsor activities that provide more opportunities for the citizens of Conway to enjoy bicycling.

CAB is working with the City of Conway to help Conway become (and remain) an official Bicycle-Friendly Community. The BFC designation is bestowed on communities that meet the strict requirements established by the League of American Bicyclists, a national organization promoting bicycling. Our vision is a community where all safe and legal manner of bicycling is encouraged and enjoyed

Ride distance options:  8, 29, or 52 miles

Benefits: T-shirt, served lunch, local music, support for the ride.

Fees: $35 per individual (ages 16+) and $50 for a family (includes two t-shirts)

At the CAB general membership meeting on February 25th 2010 votes were collected for the CAB board and its officers. Here are the results.

10 members voted in the election. 9 were present and one voted absentee.

All of the uncontested officer candidates were elected unanimously.

The results of the Board of Directors election are as follows:

  • Rick Bell received 8 votes.
  • Jennifer Boyett received 10 votes.
  • Ralph McKenna received 8 votes.
  • Amie Regester received 4 votes.

Since there are only nine seats on the board, Rick, Jennifer and Ralph join the board and Amie departs.

The current Board is as follows:

  • Chad Files, President
  • Jim Bruce, President-elect
  • Greg Reddin Secretary
  • John Parrack, Treasurer
  • Peter Mehl, Past-president
  • Sujith Kumar, At large
  • Rick Bell, At large

CAB Bylaws Amendment PDF Print E-mail

The CAB Board of Directors adopted an amendment to the bylaws at the February 11 board meeting. The amendment increased the scope of Board authority over finances as described in Article 10 to also cover donated property. The updated bylaws can be found here.

 
CAB Social/Election - Thursday February 25 PDF Print E-mail

The first bimonthly CAB social event will be held Thursday February 25th at 6 PM at the Bear's Den, 235 Farris Road, across from UCA.

The event is open to all CAB members and the general public. Erik Leamon, owner of The Ride Bike Shop, will speak on "The latest in Bikes and Bike Gear." Elections for new board members and officers of the board will be held.  Please join us for this first of regular bimonthly CAB social events on the 4th Thursday.

The February CAB board meeting will be Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Mills Center, Room 302b, at Hendrix College at 6:30 PM. The meeting is open to all CAB members and the public. You can download a map of the Hendrix campus here.
