Board Members Present: Sujith Kumar, Peter Mehl, Amie Regester, Chad Files, Greg Reddin, Mike Ferryall, Jim Bruce, John Parrack

Board Members Absent: None

Peter presented a revised Memorandum of Understanding between UCA and CAB. The proposed revisions were pre-approved at the regular August 13 CAB meeting. The revised memo contained the revisions and no objections were noted.

It was noted that CAB will need access to water at the facility. Peter agreed to look into this. (Note: In the week following the meeting Peter informed the board that CAB may use the water faucet at the back of the house.)

Discussion turned to the topics of how to operate the collective. The general consensus was to operate it like a library. We will set a specified time a bicycle should be returned. Student’s ID numbers and contact information will be collected when a bicycle is checked out.

Much of the discussion dealt with how to ensure our bicycles will be returned in working order. Options included taking a $20 deposit, reporting bicycles stolen to UCA Police if they are not returned, and putting a $50 - $100 hold on the student’s account for bicycles not returned.

The board unanimously approved a motion to take a $20 deposit, student ID, and student contact information from patrons upon checkout and inform them that UCA police will be notified if the bicycle is not returned.

The board also unanimously approved a motion to form a committee to oversee the UCA Bikeshare project. The committee, as initially created, includes Chad Files, Sujith Kumar, Greg Reddin, and Mike Ferryall. AJ Regester and Brennan McGinn were interested in helping, but were not CAB members at the beginning of the meeting. They were encouraged to join CAB and participate in the project.

Finally, the board unanimously approved the goals of the UCA Bikeshare project as follows:

· Immediate: Provide bicycles for UCA students, fac. & staff to use

· Short-term: Give away bicycles to families in need.

· Long-term: Provide bicycles for community use.

· General: Educate the community about bicycle safety, repair and maintenance.
