Treasurer’s Report
· Current balance: $2,661.27
· Deposits: $2,642 Fall classic collections.
· Expenses: $239.90 reimbursement for Fall Classic expenses.
· CAB currently has 15 members in good standing.
501c3 Update - Conflict of Interest policy was unanimously approved. Jim will pursue info on status of “do we influence legislation”?
Bikeshare Committee Report - Roof work is finished. Trim work still needed. An event was hosted to clean out scrap. We have plenty of space now and need to get Erik’s space cleaned out. Committee decided not to accept suspension frames. We’re still finalizing policy to accept bikes with limitations. Some inmates from the Juvenile Detention Center helped with the cleanup event and it was a very positive experience. The committee believes we should cultivate this working relationship with Judge Rhonda Wood.
List of prices of startup costs – bare essential tools $200, approx cost per bike: $20. We have a plan for how bikes will move through the garage. Mike is finalizing drawings on that. We have some carpentry work to do on shelving units, etc. The program should be up and running by end of year. UCA students have shown interest and we will have a meeting with them about it.
Bikes for Tykes – asked by 501 Magazine about this – Ron King asked about parts. The committee will decide about the scope of this program this year.
Bicycle Advisory Board - The BAB is working towards submitting BFC application.
Safe Routes to School – Diane Robinson is now the committee chair. The plan is to expand the program with a master plan, etc. Focus for this year will be on education grants instead of engineering until the master plan is developed.
Bike Safety Classes – People are not showing interest. Jim & Chad will set a date for a class and CAB will help promote it. The instructors need a month or so lead-time. There was some discussion that perhaps the course is priced too high. Peter agreed to get a marketing class involved in promotion efforts.
Fall Classic Tour Post Mortem - Here are some notes for future reference regarding the Conway Fall Classic:
· Request for printed course maps
· Need more $5 bills or raise entry fee,
· Request for a shorter ride (with strong objections from members present)
· Perhaps start the event earlier.
· Need sound system for the bands. Perhaps it should be more of a community event with more music and other activities – not just geared to riders.
Upcoming Events
· October 10: ArtsFest - Jim & Peter will lead tour of historic homes. 10:30 AM, Simon Park
· Oct. 25: RideCivil – maybe we should consider a mid-ride stop to increase community building.
· Nov. 6: Library - 2 movies: Return of the Scorcher and We Are Traffic. There will also be a roundtable discussion about cycling in Conway.
· Nov. 7: Arbor Day – Sujith and Jim agreed to operate a table for CAB.
