CAB is in the first phase of establishing a Conway-wide bicycle sharing program. The program intends to build and maintain a fleet of bicycles available for short-term borrowing, and located at key locations around town. CAB is currently partnering with local businesses and with the Student Government Association at the University of Central Arkansas, to establish a pilot program for the UCA community. Once this first phase is established and self-sufficient, CAB will then expand service to include the wider Conway community. The goals of the CAB bike program are:
- to provide a convenient, affordable, and sustainable system of local transportation for the residents of Conway.
- to recycle old bicycles that would otherwise be discarded
- to educate the community on
- bicycle safety, legal requirements, and good riding practices,
- basic and advanced bicycle mechanics
CAB has in its possession more than 60 bicycles in various states of dis/repair, and a garage facility located in town. CAB seeks volunteers who are interested in getting involved in the program. Volunteers need not be UCA students, CAB members, nor even knowledgeable about bicycle mechanics. All we ask is that volunteers be willing to commit at least 2 hours a week to the program, and be willing to learn.
